About STEM-HER

STEM-HER is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit led by high school girls that creates free STEM hands on learning kits for kids. We believe the best way to learn is through doing, not just reading. Our goal is to give kids equal opportunities to be inspired by STEM. We spread our impact by leading free STEM workshops open to everyone, where we distribute the kits.

Nancy Z.

I created STEM-HER to help more kids discover their passion for STEM. Ever since I was a kid, my dad would show me fascinating STEM experiments and it greatly contributed to my interest in STEM. The kits we distribute are inspired by my dad and I hope to give every kid the joy I felt watching those experiments!

Hi! My name is Tina, a junior based in Bradenton, Florida week a deep passion for helping the underrepresented. Growing up as an ambitious STEM student. I found that there were few girls participating in STEM classes and activities with some even expressing that the STEM industry felt like an intimidating one to partake in due to its demographics. Thus, I hope that by being a part of STEM-HER, I am able to give these girls the extra push they need to have confidence to pursue a career in STEM.

I decided to join STEM-HER because I want to help encourage more female representation within the STEM field. I believe everybody should be introduced to STEM and understand that anybody can do it. I was introduced to the STEM field by my dad who always encouraged me to be a part of something bigger than myself. I felt very intimidated studying in the STEM field because it is so highly male-dominated, which made me feel like I didn't belong. I believe that everyone, no matter your gender identity, that you should feel welcome to be part of something as amazing as STEM.
